ASSESSMENT SERVICES
Understanding yourself or your child can make a big difference.
Our psychologists provide comprehensive ADHD assessments in a welcoming and supportive environment, taking the time to understand experiences, strengths and challenges.
ADHD assessments for both children and adults are completed across three appointments:
Appointment 1
For children, parent/s and child attend together. For adults, your psychologist explores what has brought you to assessment, your current experiences and relevant background information.
Appointment 2
Your psychologist explores development, attention, organisation, impulsivity, activity levels and how these experiences may affect different areas of life.
Appointment 3
Your psychologist discusses the assessment findings with you, answers your questions and talks through recommendations and next steps.
A COMPLETE PICTURE
Our psychologists use the DIVA-5, or DIVA-Y-2 for children, alongside other evidence-based ADHD assessment questionnaires and tools selected for the person’s age and circumstances.
Assessment is not based on one questionnaire, score or appointment. Your psychologist considers information gathered across the whole assessment.
A comprehensive written report outlining the assessment findings.
Recommendations may help with school, university, workplace considerations, therapy and self-understanding.
Findings can be discussed during your feedback appointment, with follow-up therapy available if helpful.
Psychologists can assess and diagnose ADHD, but cannot prescribe ADHD medication.
If you would like to explore medication, your assessment report can include a recommendation for a medication review with a psychiatrist or paediatrician. Your medical practitioner makes prescribing decisions based on your individual circumstances.
